Open Letter to the Editors of The Globe and Mail Re:"The Globe’s election endorsement"
I am very disappointed with your endorsement of the Conservative Party and Mr. Harper. All through this campaign, your writers and columnists have all written against the Harper government. Your writers have continuously criticized their record, their lack of priorities and their utter disrespect for Parliament and the Canadian people. You have made no good points in your endorsement. Remember, less than 40% of the Canadian population actually supports the Conservatives, not a majority. Yet your endorsement makes it out to seem that the Canadian people full out supports Harper. Perhaps what you’re trying to capture instead is the apathy that alot of people have about politics: they choose because they don’t know. Ignorance is bliss. Your newspaper has done well in the past month to attempt to inform the Canadian people. Sadly, your endorsement means that the editors of this newspaper don’t trust their own writers. You editors should be ashamed of yourself for overlooking everything Harper has done to bypass Parliament and democracy. I have lost a lot of respect for the Globe and Mail. The Canadian people should be disappointed too. From: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinions/editorials/the-globes-election-endorsement-facing-up-to-our-challenges/article2001610/ Submitted by himynameisangelo Well said (though “alot” is not a word! Spellcheck people!) I was also shocked when I read that the Globe and Mail endorsed Harper. I hope they catch a lot of flak from their readers for this.
